Drop zone structure
Explore the AFF course structure with hands on gear practice, parachute function and handle sequence, plus the nine freefall stages from awareness to low altitude rehearsal and licensing steps.
Preview what stage one will look like in Aff stage 1, as Tacheny and John present a quick overview.
During freefall, use a signaling system to adjust your arch and body position, with signals like shake for arch, knees together, leg alignment, parachute deployment, and altimeter checks.
Learn canopy stability checks by releasing the brakes and performing two big flares to confirm control, practice steering, and feel the parachute as you prepare for landing.
Learn to perform canopy checks by verifying size, shape, slider position, twists, damage, and steerability; test canopy deployment and handle line twists with corrective maneuvers.
Master emergency procedures through repeated practice at the drop zone, focusing on looking and grabbing the correct handles, peeling Velcro, and pulling cables in order to deploy two parachutes safely.
