See the lecture on the extended family gallery for the relevant PDF crib sheet
Part II of posing a larger family, due to the time taken to get the poses organised, there's only a small number of poses here. The final pose is interesting in that I wasn't happy with the pose, so I show how I could have put it right.
If you want to see a whole lot more, watch the next video which shows far more poses.

Family photos look a whole lot better when people feel comfortable and relaxed and when you avoid cheesy family poses and gimmicks, this film shows you several specific family poses and small group poses that you can use to improve your group photos.
Part 1 of group posing deals with standing poses, these are arguably a little more difficult than seated posing and can look a little too stiff or formal if you're not careful.
Also, there are definite ways of flattering people so they look their best, and this film provides some ideas.

Part I of II
This video demonstrates some posing for men, it's a live photo session with Elliot, you'll see him standing in the garden, posing with a jacket, and leaning against a fence
He's a cool looking guy, but as you'll discover, he's no model, and so is not used to being asked to pose. But that's fine, because that's the case in the majority of portraits.
The posing crib sheet for men is attached to this lecture.
This is Part II of II

This video demonstrates some tips and tricks for individual head and shoulders posing, it's not meant to be an exhaustive display of poses, more like a step by step guide to getting started. Many of the actual poses shown in the other individual lecture would be suitable for head and shoulders photos, so they are not repeated here.
The head tilt is discussed in more details along with shoulder and body postioning.
After watching this video and a little practice, you should be more confident in taking close up portraits of individuals
The PDF crib sheet shows some examples.
Profile images for Facebook , LinkedIn, forums and other social networking sites tend to be quite small don't they? So it's usually a good idea to get in real close to your subject for these type of photos.
However, when you're close-in to your subject, the jawline becomes very important, so this video demonstrates how you can accentuate your subject's jawline to get a much stronger headshot.
This video shows my approach to taking couples standing up. In fact this was the first video I shot for the course, so I tend to go into more detail about the structure of poses, and try to analyse them a bit more.
This turned into quite a long session, so is split into 4 parts
The PDF crib sheet is attached to this lecture
Let's face, we all come in different shapes and sizes, and everyone wants to look great in their photos.
This video demonstrates a few tips for flattering people who are let's say a little more 'fully figured' than most.
I was quite pleased with the results from some of these images and I like to think I the couple were happy with their images.

Although many couple poses would work for brothers and sisters, there are some poses which are not appropriate (especially for teenagers who don't want to get closer than a couple of feet to their brother or sister!!)
So here's a few fun poses for younger siblings, these are the brothers you met in one of the family videos.
I think it's fair to say that these poses would work equally well for younger sisters too.
Here's a video we shot whilst on a family holiday in Cornwall. It shows a few tips for posing older siblings, and again these poses would work equally well for sisters or brother and sister..
** Voted by students as one of Udemy's outstanding instructors of 2014 **
Follow me on live photo sessions with individuals, couples, 'fuller figure' subjects, young and older siblings and large and extended families and watch how I pose them to overcome their natural tendencies to sit or stand like statues and to get some great portraits.
Models aside, the majority of us are not aware of our natural and unconscious body positions and so we don't usually present ourselves as well as we might. For example, most of us tend not to be concerned with where or how we place our hands and arms, tilt our heads, or position our feet. This course shows how I handle that problem, and how I position and pose people to get great results.
Posing is a powerful skill that will transform your portraits, not only can you copy the ones demonstrated in the videos, but understanding the general basic dynamics of a good pose, will help you to create your own.
Each video has a short introduction and summary of the photo session that just took place, it's then followed by the live photo session.

This is a brand new course so no reviews yet
Modesty almost forbids me publishing some comments about my teaching style, taken from reviews of my other two courses, but I overcame that, so here they are:-
Bernie is really easy to listen to, and his videos were really entertaining and kept you listening. (I also like his accent!)
Many online courses suffer from over prepared, monotonic boring voice overs but Bernie's style is a bit like having your mate round to show you how to do something. This even goes to leaving some bloopers in which makes it human and fun.
Bernie is a hoot! He knows his material, presents it well, and is witty to boot. It's a great combination in a teacher.
I love Bernie's approach. Such a great instructor,
Bernie is an excellent teacher and his enthusiasm for photography is contagious.
Bernie is a fantastic tutor,
Love it, love it, love it!!
