This is an introduction to the content of this course. I will explain a little bit about the PowerPoint resources you can download and use and how the projects look like.
Here you can download resources for this course. Please download the zipped file and unpack it on your PC to have access to the course materials.
In this lecture, we will work on our first little animation technique. We will add multiple animations to one object in PowerPoint.
The next Microsoft PowerPoint animation feature is delaying. You can delay animations by adjusting the "Delay" value within the timing section.
This lecture will be all about an advanced animation feature, which is Smoothing. A select few animations in PowerPoint can be smoothed out, I want to show you what difference does it make on a slide.
Another type of animation, apart from the entrance, emphasis and exit animations in Microsoft PowerPoint from the Office365 and Microsoft365 subscriptions are Motion Paths. Motion Path is an animation that leads to the movement of an object. Let me explain and present this animation to you.
Transitions are not animations in Powerpoint, and vice-versa. Let me explain and show the difference between an animation happening on a slide, and transitions happening between slides in a PowerPoint presentation.
Here I want to explain the Draw tab to you. This new PowerPoint feature allows for drawing and animating objects.
Let us start talking about resources, the first filetype we discuss is EPS, a vector format that needs to be converted before going into PowerPoint.
Here is what can potentially happen to EPS files and how to convert them properly. I will show you on a difficult example what can go wrong here.
SVG, or Scalable Vector Graphics is a format that PowerPoint can import natively. Since Microsoft PowerPoint 2019, any newer version like PowerPoint 2021, Microsoft 365 or PowerPoint 365 natively reads SVG files and can resize and edit them.
Apart from graphic resources, we may also work with music and other files. Let me list a few places where to get free music from.
An important thing to know about colors and color schemes. Pay also attention to the contrast ratios!
A few places where you can get video material for your PowerPoint presentations and videos.
Let me show you a couple of things about the PowerPoint recording tab and its features. Especially what was available in older versions, prior to PowerPoint 2021. In the video, I will show you the Recording Screen from PowerPoint 2019 and tell you what was before that.
The newest iteration of the recording window gives us the ability to use for example the Presenter view while we time and record our PowerPoint presentations. This will be very useful.
I will briefly Mention the native PowerPoint / Microsoft resources library. Although I don't think it's properly saturated yet, it should have way more material, it's still something to consider for our videos.
Let us start our first project by determining how to properly work on it.
Let us design a background in microsoft powerpoint to start off our project.
The first slide needs to be populated with a couple of items, so we can easier explain what is happening in the script.
It's time to get into the process of powerpoint animation. Our first slide will have several animations on it.
The second slide will be a big vector that we can get from websites like freepik or storyset.
In order for this slide to not be static we need to think of some movement, for example, adding and animating clouds might be a goog idea.
We need more movement. We can animate hands (or any other part) of characters in PowerPoint. Let me show you a really interesting thing about anchor points that will be useful for anything you animate.
Slide 3 will be a completely new part of the story. Let us use existing elements to design this powerpoint slide.
Once we finish designing the parts we can animate them according to the script. Let's give the TVs some movement!
The 4th slide is the last in this project. We need to make sure that we somehow divide the screen in half later on.
This powerpoint animaiton will set the tone for the end of this project. We will reflect and ask a question at the end of our video.
Making videos in PowerPoint wouldn't be complete without music. Let us search for an interesting track and add it in the background.
Let us hit the recording feature and try to "time" everything by playing the slides. What's important, we can repeat certain slides if our timing isn't satisfying.
Everything is set and ready, let us record the actual presentation into a video in powerpoint.
After we use the exporting features we end up with a Ready PowerPoint video we could use or upload to any platform like youtube, Vimeo, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or your own website, you name it!
Let me introduce you to this project and show what we will create here.
The first slide needs to be designed using resources - we will use a video in powerpoint, a custom font and add some shapes.
Let us start to animate in PowerPoint and give some life to slide 1.
One of the best-looking text animations you can make in powerpoint. Let me show you an advanced trick that will elevate your animation skills.
This video is meant to teach you how to properly crop videos since they can't be cropped to an aspect ratio or shape with PowerPoint just now.
On this slide we will try to design phones in powerpoint and prepare everything for the animation in the next lecture.
This lecture will be about animating slide #2 of the project. We will animate the phnoes and make videos play inside of them.
If you want to be another step above the competition, then you must learn how to make custom transitions in powerpoint. This is a rare and little known technique that will make you instantly a better designer.
Slide #3 will summarize our project - let's make sure that we space everything out and add a call to action.
In this lecture, we will manage the timing of our PowerPoint presentation. Let us go slide by slide and make sure that animations and videos can flow seamlessly throughout the presentation.
Let me troubleshoot why a slide may stay too long on the screen after exporting it to a video in PowerPoint.
Here I will showcase a quick way to export videos in 60fps with PowerPoint.
The Morph transition was added in PowerPoint 2019. Any newer version that that should have it, let me showcase how do older versions deal with it.
Explanation of using the morph transition in PowerPoint. Let me show you a couple examples of how to utilize this feature.
The way you need to think while creating items with the Morph feature is by looking at your previous slides and duplicating the existing elements on it to achieve good animated results.
The Morph feature is a transition, not an animation. Make sure you know the distinction between them and understand, that animations happen on slides, but transitions happen between them.
Make sure when using Morph that the objects remain grouped. Else PowerPoint won't know what to do with them, how to morph them which will result in a simple Fade transition.
The "!!" feature is a magnificent work-around for PowerPoint that allows us to exactly tell the software which items should morph into each other.
Let us start the 3rd project by showing you a preview of this Microsoft PowerPoint animation.
We need to download appropriate resources - let us download them within this lecture.
The first slide will set the tone and foundation for this entire PowerPoint video animation. Let us design this slide and add the according text.
We continue to build our animation on Slide 2. We remove a part of the image and utilize the morph transition to move it outside the screen.
For slide 3 we will again duplicate elements and shift them around on our screen. The 3rd slide of this presentation will represent the "To online" text.
As a bonus, I want to show you that the Morph transition is capable of morphing not just shapes but also text. It's no the best in my opinion, but the option is there.
Our animation will end with the "To Hybrid" text and objects on it. Let us bring back all elements to the middle of the slide and keep working on the entire presentation.
In this lecture, I'll feature a few adjustments here and there so we prepare our presentation for exporting.
Let us set proper timing for our PowerPoint presentation so it will flow perfectly when exported to a video.
This PowerPoint feature allows us to hide slides. When we export a video those slides won't be displayed.
Setting the timing of our slides may be the most important thing before we export it to video. If the timings aren't set right then our video won't be the length we expect it to. Let's make sure we make a good job here!
Since introducing 4k rendering Microsoft PowerPoint allows us to export a video in 60FPS. Prior to that 30 FPS was the limitation.
As a curiosity, let me show you what had to be done in PowerPoint 2016 and older versions to get a 60fps video. It turns out PowerPoint already had the capabilities but Microsoft didn't update, patch or add it in any other way. We had to use a custom macro for it.
Lecture about animating series in PowerPoint charts. If you want to make your audience understand your bar or column chart series by series, you can use animations to emphasize what you currently talk about. Good for presenting live presentations.
This is a kinetic text and typography animation made completely in PowerPoint. With this After Effects like animation I wanted to show the capabilities of text and shape animation within PowerPoint with the Microsoft 365 subscription.
Do you want to learn how to make high-quality videos for YouTube, work as a freelancer, or make videos for your company using PowerPoint?
With recent updates to the recording features in Microsoft PowerPoint it was never this easy to use it as a reliable, solid, and professional video creation tool. Video creation skills are now more important than ever and we have a huge opportunity to stand out from the crowd by using software like PowerPoint to prepare our videos quickly and efficiently.
This course will teach you everything about animation and video creation with PowerPoint you need to know.
As with all my courses, rather than just showing you around tools, I will focus on direct application and present a real-life workflow of creating a video – From an empty slide to an animated and beautifully illustrated video ready to export and publish. I have prepared unique templates and resources so we can work together.
The course and its projects are well organized and laid out. We work in the following order:
Acquiring proper illustrations and resources
Establishing a script and designing our entire video
Animating scenes and timing our slides perfectly
Recording a voice-over and exporting a ready video!
All resources and templates are highly unique and prepared by me, your instructor (Hi, I'm Andrew ;) You will find them within this course. They are designed to gradually teach you new design, animation, and video creation techniques including the Morph feature, smoothing animations or downloading high-quality resources.
We will create several types of animated videos within this course:
An animated explainer video with a voice over
A marketing video with free and legal footage we download online
An animated and illustrated video using the Morph transition in PowerPoint
...and many more useful little video tricks, like custom transitions!
